 525 North Campus Ave. Oxford Ohio 45056 (513) 523-4669 THE COVENANT Confident that we have been drawn by the Holy Spirit into a personal relationship with God through the finished work of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, and having been immersed in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ. We do so solemnly, mindful that God requires that we fulfill the commitments made to Him and to each other. We pledge, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love, standing firm in one spirit, and striving for personal holiness in order that we might portray, for all to see, the power of Christ to redeem and unite a fallen humanity. Our love for one another will be evidenced by the way in which we watch over and motivate one another, remember each other often in our prayers, aid each other in sickness and distress, and rejoice with one another in the midst of God's blessings. We further pledge to strive together for the spiritual and material advancement of our church by sustaining its worship, cheerfully and regularly of our time and material goods to the support of the ministry, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel in our community and throughout the world. Remembering the admonition of Scripture that we are to live in the world while not living like the world, we will do our best to walk circumspectly in our community and to be just in our dealings with all men, so that we give no opportunity to those who would show contempt for our Lord. Instead, we desire that all who come in contact with us might know that we are followers of Christ because we actively do what our Lord commands. To accomplish this, we pledge to believe and study the Word of God and to integrate its teaching into our lives. Then, as our Lord desires of His Church, we will truly be the light of the world and the city set on a hill which cannot be hidden. ~ |
